ADVICE FOR TOEFL ibt.

For , speaking section as we have to listen first & then record our answer , first calmly listen to the conversation then at the time of recording your answer, talk in your normal tone & try to give your answer in precise words rather than elaborating, because we only got 45 seconds to record our answer. If you stammer in the middle, while speaking , use precise words then you'll have to speak less & you can avoid the hurry in giving the answer which will result into less stammering , please keep in mind our voice quality really matters, even if you can answer the question in 2-3 sentences confidently that will be enough.

Reading section is very easy, for reading just read the paragraph as fast as you can first because when you have to answer the question you've to read it again, so don't waste anytime reading it carefully just go through it, you have to answer 12-14 questions on that paragraph, so you'll read it again.

For listening section , first of all keep your head & mind empty if you feel you haven't done well in previous section wait for 1-2 mins & let those thoughts go away, its really easy if you listen to it carefully. We have the advantage of taking notes in listening section, so make notes while you are listening to it & by notes I mean, for example; if u got conversation between 2 friends about a particular professor, they will mention his name in their conversation, just write that down.

For writing, it depends on your knowledge of the topic but still it can be improved, lets take a topic for ex. ( suppose u got this topic that residents of city should vote yes or no for the construction of new flyover linking the suburbs with the centre of city), first make up your mind on what u support( yes or no), suppose you support the argument that they should vote yes, then start 1st paragraph by construction of this flyover may cause some environmental problems, but I still believe that the residents should vote yes because there are so many other gains, then in second paragraph give reasons why you think they should vote yes & write some of the gains, in last paragraph, summarize all the gains & then write because of all this I think they should vote yes.

Best of luck & do 1 thing on the test day wear something you are comfortable in because toefl is all about confidence nothing else.

A Tip to insert Flash Movies into PowerPoint slides

MS PowerPoint is a powerful and attractive tool to express your ideas to others. You can convey these ideas in more effective ways, if you are using movie files with your simple slides. The Flash movies are normally the best choice to add into PowerPoint due to its small file size.

Follow the given steps to insert the Flash Movies into PowerPoint Slides:

Make sure before inserting the Flash Movies into PowerPoint slides that you have installed the Flash Player on your computer.

First of all open the presentation in which you want to insert Flash movie file.

Now click on "Toolbar" option from the "View" menu and choose the option "Control Toolbox".


Here a small floating menu will appear with the title "Control Toolbox".

Using "Control Toolbox" toolbar, click on the icon that looks like hammer for more controls and scrolling the objects then choose the object "Shockwave Flash Object".


Now using your mouse pointer, draw the box size and position where you want to play a flash movie.

Now right click on box and select the "Properties" option.


A small properties dialog box will appear with different options.

Under the Alphabetic tab, click the option "Movie" and type the full file path of flash movie in blank cell next to Movie (for example d:\flash_file).

Again under same tab, set the property "True" for "Playing" and "EmbedMovie" objects to add and play the flash file automatically with slide. Here you can also set the Quality, Width, Scale and Windows Mode objects for flash file.

Finally close the "Properties" dialog box. Save your PowerPoint presentation and run it for test.
