OpenOffice.org 3.0 Released with New Features

Sun Mircosystems have finally released the much awaited Open Office 3.0 on 13th of this month. For those who are not aware of this great suite, OpenOffice is the leading open-source office software suite for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, databases and more. It is available in many languages and various operating systems. The 3.0 version has been built up with many new features like support for new formats of Office 2007 have been added.

The interface looks calm and cleaner than the 2.X builds but still it can’t match the easiness of Microsoft Office 2007 ribbon based menu’s. The other good news is that the OpenOffice.org 3.0 is now supporting all the new formats of MS Office 2007 like .xlsx .docx .pptx, etc.

Next big thing in it is its capability has been extended over the Mac OS X, that means OpenOffice will now even work on the Mac systems. Read about the all new features in OpenOffice.org here.

Overall the software has been much improved, and has again set the records of its stability. Composing all these cool features it is a must download piece of software weighing nearly ~142 mb and is available for free.
